Description from the seller
Elegant Antique Wooden Frame with Gilded Stucco – Neoclassical / Empire Style – Late 19th Century
Description of the Item
Splendid and refined period rectangular frame, entirely made of wood and gilded stucco, dating from the late 19th century. This piece perfectly embodies the elegance of Neoclassical and Empire style, ideal for enhancing antique paintings, fine prints, or to be transformed into an exclusive character mirror.
The structure is distinguished by the wide smooth rebate that adds visual depth, framed at the corners by rich reliefs in stucco with floral motifs and sinuous foliage. The inner profile (rabbet) is finely finished with a continuous decorative geometric and beaded pattern, which enhances the internal light of the work.
The surface preserves its magnificent original patina of the era, with warm gold tones that attest to the authenticity and history of the piece, giving it that lived-in and sophisticated charm highly sought after by antique collectors.
Conditions and Conservation
The frame appears in good general condition, solid and structurally intact. It shows light and physiological signs of wear and minimal gilding wear that accentuate its authenticity
