Description from the seller
“Liminal Light” is a mesmerizing oil painting by Artur Sudak, a deep study of loneliness, mystery and transition (the title’s liminality refers to a state of suspension on the border between different worlds or states of consciousness).
In the foreground, on the edge of a powerful, rugged cliff, rises a monumental, richly decorated kerosene lamp with nearly architectural shapes. Its warm, mystical glow contrasts with the cold of the surrounding nature. At the base of this gigantic structure, right at the edge of the stormy sea, stands a microscopic silhouette of a solitary man, which intensifies the sense of the vastness of the world and the fragility of human existence. In the distance, on the restless line of the horizon, a phantom sailing ship looms, sailing under a heavy, tumultuous sky through which a shaft of dramatic golden light breaks.
Colors may vary slightly depending on lighting.
