Description from the seller
Afternoon of Everyday Encounters
Description of the work
Original work in a contemporary naïf style that depicts a daily scene in an urban setting, where architecture and social life intertwine in an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The composition captures an afternoon moment in which light softly envelops every corner, giving way to that instant when the day progresses without hurry and life naturally unfolds.
The scene builds a choral narrative through multiple gestures and situations that coexist in the same space: a young woman walks purposefully toward her destination, at once distant and connected to everything happening around her; several people share a coffee while catching up, extending conversations that are part of their everyday life; from the windows, some figures observe in silence, as if trying to hold onto those fleeting moments that, although simple, already belong to a day that will not return.
In the street, mothers chat while their children play, unaware of the passing of time; the figure of the child on a bicycle stands out, a symbol of movement and the freedom of childhood, as well as the presence of a woman pushing her baby’s stroller, still immersed in the emotion of new motherhood. In the center of the composition, a couple shares a moment of intimacy within the tranquil bustle, representing the bond and connection amidst shared life.
The overall effect is one of balance, closeness, and humanity, where each character is part of a collective narrative that celebrates the everyday. The work invites the viewer to pause and recognize the beauty of those small moments that, despite their apparent insignificance, build the memory of life.
True to her naïf language, the artist dispenses with strict realism to give way to a luminous representation, with vivid colors and no pronounced shadows, creating a sense of suspended time. The scene does not belong to a single instant, but to all those similar moments that repeat themselves and, yet, are never the same.
The work sits within contemporary figurative art, with a personal naïf style that highlights daily life, human relationships, and the poetry that lives in the simple.
