Description from the seller
These are a pair of peacock-patterned tripod candlesticks made in Japan during the Showa period, belonging to the traditional Buddhist offering and decorative categories. Crafted using the Takaoka copperware technique, the pieces are exquisitely carved with peacock motifs and feature a classic animal-face tripod design, resulting in a dignified and elegant appearance. The copper is thick and has developed a natural patina; the pieces are in excellent condition overall, with only minor wear on the bottom. Takaoka copperware is a renowned traditional Japanese metalworking craft, and the number of such pairs of antique candlesticks is dwindling, making them a classic category of Japanese antique copperware.
