Description from the seller
**Pair of oriental tapestries embroidered in silk and framed – Southeast Asia, 1980s**
Magnificent pair of silk tapestries from Southeast Asia, produced during the 1980s and kept in excellent condition thanks to their original framing with protective glass.
Each piece measures approximately **63 x 44 cm** (including the frame) and features extraordinary craftsmanship achieved through countless very fine silk threads sewn by hand, creating scenes of great delicacy, color richness and remarkable level of detail. The quality of the embroidery allows for appreciation of different color shades and depth depending on the incidence of light.
The tapestries are presented in their original wooden frames with front glass. The frames show light signs of use commensurate with their age, not affecting their overall aesthetics. The glass has protected the textiles, preserving their integrity, color and beauty for more than four decades.
### Symbolism and meaning
The represented scenes are inspired by Eastern artistic tradition and gather some of the most appreciated symbols of Asian culture:
* **The phoenix**, present in one of the tapestries, symbolizes harmony, prosperity, renewal and good fortune.
* **The peacock**, the protagonist of the second tapestry, is regarded as an emblem of beauty, dignity, abundance and prestige.
* **Plum blossoms**, which bloom in winter, represent perseverance, hope and rebirth.
* **The pine**, evergreen tree depicted alongside the peacock, symbolizes longevity, strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
The combination of these images conveys a message of prosperity, happiness, stability and elegance, turning the set into a decorative piece with deep symbolic meaning.
### A decorative piece with personality
This pair of tapestries stands out for its refined artisanal quality and its ability to add a touch of distinction to any room. They are ideal for classic, oriental, eclectic or contemporary interiors seeking to incorporate authentic pieces with history and meaning.
In addition to their decorative value, they constitute an excellent example of late 20th-century Asian textile craftsmanship, a technique that requires countless hours of manual work and great precision in applying the silk threads.
An exceptional opportunity to acquire a decorative pair that is difficult to find in this condition of preservation and with such an elegant presentation.
To maximize interest on Catawiki, I would also add in the technical sheet:
