Romain Steppe was a Belgian artist born in Antwerp in 1859 and who died in Antwerp in 1927. He was a painter.
Student of Van Hoorde, later of Boland and finally of Isidore Meyers.
He produced landscapes as well, but mainly seascapes and marine scenes.
Realistic form, with an impressionistic touch.
Worked along the banks of the Scheldt, on the Belgian coast, in the Antwerp harbor, in the Limburg Campine, and later also in England, the Netherlands, Italy and France.
Subsequently settled back in Antwerp and exhibited there regularly from 1887.
Was a member of the circle “Als Ik Kan” in Antwerp.
