Vova Titov is an Estonian born artist with a degree in interior design from the prestigious Herzen University in St. Petersburg. His paintings, sculptures and drawings are all one of a kind, hand-crafted and have been sold internationally, with some making their way into the homes of Hollywood directors. His art is represented by the Saatchi Gallery, with regular auctions on Catawiki.
"Graybeard" Here, geometry gives way to the organic: two fused creatures, or two aspects of a single being, emerge from the bottom edge of the canvas like tree roots or the petrified figures of a prehistoric temple.
The surface of the forms is engraved with frequent parallel and intersecting lines, creating the illusion of tree bark, wrinkles, and cracked earth. The bronze-brown color enhances the sense of the material, as if we are dealing not with a painting but with a relief of darkened copper or baked clay. Against the pale green background, this mass appears to have been dug from the earth rather than crafted by hand. The work is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
