Description from the seller
Kanosuke 2023 Limited Edition (59%)
The Kanosuke 2023 Limited Edition is a modern Japanese single malt that reflects the distillery’s coastal, lightly peated and cask-influenced style. Bottled at a strong 59%, it shows Kanosuke in a more concentrated and expressive form than its standard releases, while still keeping the elegance and balance typical of Japanese whisky.
Nose
Refined but energetic. The nose opens with ripe orchard fruits such as pear, apple, and white peach, supported by vanilla, honey, and soft biscuit malt.
There is a clear coastal influence: sea breeze, light saltiness, and faint mineral notes. Behind this sits a gentle layer of oak spice, citrus zest (lemon and yuzu-like freshness), and a touch of floral character. The alcohol is noticeable but well integrated for its strength.
Palate
Full and vibrant, with a silky yet powerful delivery. The arrival is led by sweet malt, honeyed fruit, and pear syrup, followed by citrus oils and vanilla cream.
Mid-palate develops more structure: white pepper, ginger, and toasted oak spice. There is a subtle coastal salinity that gives tension and freshness, preventing the whisky from becoming too sweet or heavy.
Water softens the intensity and reveals more delicate fruit and floral notes, bringing out a cleaner, more elegant profile.
Finish
Medium to long, clean and slightly drying. It fades through citrus peel, light oak spice, and soft vanilla, with a gentle saline note lingering at the end.
Conclusion
The Kanosuke 2023 Limited Edition is a well-balanced, high-strength Japanese single malt that combines fruit-forward sweetness, subtle coastal character, and refined oak integration. It is more expressive than the core range but still maintains Japanese elegance.
Ideal for those who enjoy:
Modern Japanese single malts with balance and finesse
Lightly coastal, fruit-driven whisky profiles
Cask strength whisky that remains refined rather than aggressive
