Description from the seller
R for Magritte — The Artphabet
Edition 2/10 — 60 x 60 cm
This work is part of The Artphabet, a artistic project developed by digital artist Cess, in which each letter of the alphabet pays homage to key figures in modern art and visual culture.
In this piece, the letter R is transformed into a tribute to René Magritte, reinterpreting his unmistakable surreal language based on the alteration of reality and the play between object and meaning. The typography is integrated into a composition where the everyday acquires a poetic and disorienting dimension.
The image presents a green apple —a recurring element in Magritte's work— intervened by the shape of the letter, generating a fusion between object and symbol. The presence of the bowler hat, another of his most recognizable icons, reinforces the connection with his visual universe, evoking anonymous figures and seemingly simple scenes charged with mystery.
The contrast between the familiar and the impossible invites questioning the relationship between representation and reality, one of the central themes in Magritte's work. The piece plays with the spectator's perception, offering a clearly apparent image but conceptually ambiguous.
Three-dimensionality provides a contemporary reading, translating the surreal pictorial language into the digital space, where objects acquire volume and a nearly tangible presence, intensifying the sense of strangeness.
The work has been created through a completely digital 3D process (CGI), modeled in an artisanal way with special attention to the materials, lighting, and the symbolic integration of the elements, achieving a clean, precise, and highly conceptual aesthetics.
The Artphabet has had a wide international reach, being disseminated in numerous design, art, and visual culture outlets, consolidating itself as one of the most prominent artistic typography projects in the recent digital realm.
Cess is a digital artist specializing in digital art, CGI, and artificial intelligence, with an established track record in the creative sector, having collaborated with international brands such as Apple, Google, Prada, Vogue, and MTV, among others.
The work is presented in high-quality Giclée print on poly/cotton canvas, guaranteeing excellent reproduction of detail, color, and depth of the original digital work.
