DESCRIPTION
Landscape
Oil on panel
Signed and dated 2001 at the bottom
Work measurements: 70 x 80 cm
Frame measurements: 84 x 94 cm

In this Landscape, Massimiliano Alioto works on the broad, silent structure of the countryside, transforming the expanse of fields into a composition punctuated by planes, lines, and chromatic relationships. The subject remains recognizable, but is progressively brought toward a more essential vision, where the landscape becomes almost rhythm, surface, construction.
The composition is dominated by the scanning of the lands, arranged like large fields that follow one another toward the horizon. The fields take on the rhythm of an abstract construction, played on the alternation of yellows, greens, blues and violet tones.
On the horizon appear the posts and wires of tension, minimal yet decisive elements that introduce a contemporary note within the scene. The landscape is therefore not described in a naturalistic way, but reconstructed through a vision made of surfaces, traces and color relationships.
The painting is tactile and layered, with a worked, incised, and vibrant surface, where the fields are never uniform but crossed by marks, abrasions and tonal variations. The work well represents Alioto’s interest in landscape as a structure and image reworked, between observation of reality and compositional synthesis.
