Description from the seller
Luis Enrique González
Golden Chestnut, 2026
Oil on canvas, 58 × 41 cm
Signed (bottom left)
Beautiful and luminous equestrian portrait of great warmth and elegance. Luis Enrique González masterfully captures the head and neck of a magnificent chestnut horse, whose coat seems illuminated from within by a golden light. The contrast between the intense color of the coat, the shine of the bridle, and the amber and orange-toned background creates a vibrant and noble atmosphere.
The artist demonstrates an excellent technical command: the satin texture and the natural highlights of the coat, the expressive depth of the eye, the delicacy of the mane, and the precise details of the gear are painted with exceptional sensitivity and realism. The warm lighting gives the horse a regal and lively presence.
“Golden Chestnut” is a work that conveys strength, distinction, and a very appealing natural beauty. Its medium format and strong color palette make it a highly versatile decorative piece, ideal for living rooms, offices, or any space where a work with character and warmth is desired.
An excellent opportunity to acquire a contemporary, high-quality equestrian painting filled with light and elegance, which will continue to be appreciated and admired for many years.
The work is carefully shipped protected in a transportation tube to ensure its perfect preservation.
Artist Statement — Luis Enrique González
My work is a constant dialogue between light and form, where oil painting becomes a means to explore the emotional and symbolic depth of reality. I’m interested in nature and the human figure not only as visual motifs, but as living territories loaded with stories, silences and tensions. Through realism, I seek to reveal what hides in the everyday: fragility, strength, persistence, and the beauty that manifest in gestures, in matter, and in the spaces we inhabit.
Chiaroscuro is, for me, a tool of thought. Through contrast, I find the internal structure of each image, the atmosphere that allows color to breathe and become protagonist. I work with meticulous observation, trying to ensure that each brushstroke preserves the sensitivity of the moment and, at the same time, a permanence that transcends the temporality of the represented object.
My pieces sit at a crossroads between academic tradition and a contemporary gaze, where rigorous technique coexists with a personal expressive search. I paint because I find in oil a space of revelation: a way to understand the world and at the same time reinvent it through light, texture, and color.
