Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
José Cabrera
In “Bronze Soul,” José Cabrera presents an equestrian portrait where natural elegance and contained strength merge in a composition with great visual balance. The horse, depicted with a slight tilt of the head, conveys a sense of conscious serenity, as if its presence were charged with silent intelligence.
The chromatic treatment is one of the work’s most notable aspects. The warm tones of the coat, close to incandescent bronze, interact with a greenish background that adds depth and contrast without competing with the subject’s prominence. This combination creates an enveloping, refined atmosphere that is visually very attractive.
From a technical standpoint, Cabrera shows solid mastery of hyperrealistic oil painting. The transition of light over the animal’s anatomy, the subtle reflections, and the careful detailing of the harness evidence precise and sensitive execution. Each element is carefully integrated to build a coherent image with strong presence.
Beyond his technical virtuosity, the work conveys character. There is in the horse’s gaze a firm calm, a dignity that does not need to impose itself. Cabrera thus achieves a portrait that connects with the equestrian tradition, yet at the same time it feels contemporary in its synthesis and visual clarity.
An ideal piece for collectors who value elegance, refined technique, and the capacity of an image to convey presence and balance.
