Description from the seller
The Paris gallery CHENUS LONGHI presents "Le Paon"—an original canvas by the artist Dacruz, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity. In this horizontal composition, Dacruz unfolds a central animal figure treated as a totemic motif. The peacock, a symbol of gaze and vigilance, is here surrounded by a multitude of eyes that rhythm the surface and create an almost hypnotic dynamic. True to his visual vocabulary, the artist organizes the whole around a structuring black line, within which blocks of vivid colors and repeated motifs are inscribed. The work draws on references that blend popular iconographies and tribal influences. Through its panoramic format and the richness of its motifs, “Le Paon” condenses the characteristic elements of Dacruz’s work, between studio painting and mural heritage.
• Original signed work on the front, and dated and signed on the back;
• Comes with its certificate of authenticity;
• Very carefully packaged;
• Shipped with insurance and tracking;
• If you reside in the Paris region, you can come to collect the work directly at our gallery located in the 11th arrondissement.
About the artist
Dacruz is a French artist based in Paris, deeply rooted in the 19th arrondissement where he lives and works. Active since the late 1990s, he has developed a universe instantly recognizable, populated by hybrid figures and creatures inspired by popular imagination, tattooing, and mixed cultural references nourished by his travels in South America in particular.
His work unfolds first on the street, on the walls of Paris and internationally, where he composes murals with vivid colors, built around a strong black line. A fixture of the Paris scene, he belongs to a generation of artists who have bridged graffiti, street art, and muralism.
Dacruz aligns with the street art movement, alongside artists such as Vhils, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JonOne, Kaws, Futura.
