Description from the seller
This famous advertising poster was created between 1932 and 1933 by Plinio Codognato, one of the most important Italian poster artists of the 20th century and Fiat's official illustrator for about twenty years, whose signature is visible at the top left. The work was made for the launch of the Fiat 508 Balilla and fuses commercial promotion with the political propaganda of the fascist regime of the era. The boy in the foreground wears the uniform of the Opera Nazionale Balilla and is depicted in the act of throwing a stone, a gesture that recalls the 18th-century patriotic myth of the young Genoese Giovan Battista Perasso, from whom the car took its name. In the background the silhouette of the automobile and the large vertical inscription of the Turin brand stand out, while the lower part of the poster features the advertisement for Pirelli Pneumatic tires, technical partner of the campaign.
