*****
Where to place this creator, once it is clarified that she is resolutely outside the norms? Is she "naive"? Is she "raw"? Or simply Blanche Téjada, carefree of any kind of classification?
"Naive," she is, certainly, by the great concern with daily life, the preoccupation for her immediate surroundings that, beneath their apparent vagabonding, express themselves in her paintings: Rue du Pressoir, Capharnaüm, Maternity, etc. But from this tendency, she never possessed the stiffness characteristic of it, her characters always in motion! Naive, she would be more so because of the "simplicity" of the outlines that bring her back, by their seeming clumsiness but their true art of line, to her origins, to her states of mind of yesteryear, in any case to the sincerity of childish productions! Naive again, and so playful, by her habit of laying out dreams? worries? of her creatures (birds, spiderwebs...) as if they "thought" with brains/garbage bins! Or of completing the oval in which she deliberately or not places her groups by an arc of ink, as if they were playing jump rope with tiny silhouetted individuals on the white page!
A rock of raw art, she is also, by the deep psychological involvement that radiates from her works, the instinctive creativity perceptible in each of them!
But so varied, realized in tapestries made of intertwined fibers, of networks of offset plates, of newspaper cuttings and heavy metallic ribbons revealing in their arabesques unexpected faces!
Highly sought after by rough-art collectors because rare, present in museums of outsider and raw art, her painting cannot leave one indifferent"
