Verssan finds in pastel a way to appropriate the body through play of curves, voids and fills, shadows and lights by rubbing, blending and blowing the matter onto the paper. The artist treats his subjects using toning but while playing with the color of the support in warm gray tones, revealing both softness and delicacy but also strength and virility.
