Traditional Moroccan dagger “Koumya” early 20th century
This Koumya is a decorative piece in excellent condition, adorned with hand-engraved metalwork blending brass and nickel-silver alloy with Berber motifs. It is distinguished by its black handle shaped like a peacock’s tail, decorated with hollowed clover motifs, and by its gilded sheath, whose end curves sharply upward. It features two side rings allowing it to be carried slung over the left shoulder. The blade shows a patina of use with some traces of oxidation. An object of display as much as a traditional weapon, the Koumya remains today a sought-after piece for the quality of its craftsmanship and the symbolic strength of its Moroccan aesthetic.
