Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a versatile artist whose creativity has evolved from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion: making music.
This passion guides him in his youth, and his precocious talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money meant to fund his higher education into creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.
Alongside his music career, Kobalt enters the world of advertising as a creative/copywriter for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he put his creativity to work for the publication by creating and producing the magazine's advertising campaigns.
The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art.
A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is marked by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for appropriating magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay off social media, preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
