Description from the seller
MEDSAN - Graffiti Bushido – The Vandale Samurai – Graffiti Bushido
With this square-format work, Medsan strikes hard and gives us a resolutely urban and transgressive vision of traditional Japan. This print features the figure of order and loyalty par excellence of the Edo era — a Samurai in full armor (Yoroi) — reimagined as a nocturnal street artist caught red-handed vandalizing.
The visual and philosophical contrast is striking: equipped with his impressive horned helmet (Kabuto) adorned with a dragon, our warrior does not draw his katana, but a spray can. Clutching other spray cans under his arm like precious ammunition, he tags broad letters dripping with a bright cyan blue. The sacrilege is total: his surface is none other than a traditional sliding door (shoji) on which are already depicted classic ink drawings of a demon (Oni) and a dragon.
The impact of the work rests on the explosive encounter between classical Japanese art and Hip-Hop/Graffiti culture. The sky-blue background, very Pop Art, makes the indigo armor and the cyan of the tag stand out. The artist’s signature, "Medsan" in katakana (メドサン), is no longer modestly relegated to a cartouche: it is the heart of the action, illegally projected onto rice paper.
A piece with crazy charisma, at once rebellious and masterfully executed, ideal for bringing true urban energy and street-art vibe into a design interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists brought together around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. At his side, Medsan, oriented toward Pop Art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
