"At the Chiemsee" - Dieter Wulff
This atmospheric landscape painting depicts an idyllic riverside area at the Chiemsee. In the center is an old, tree-surrounded structure with a rounded wooden gate, in front of which a narrow watercourse flows. Through the loose grouping of trees, the view opens to the water and the tranquil expanse of the landscape.
With his characteristic, lively brushwork, Dieter Wulff succeeds in uniting light, vegetation, and architecture into an atmospheric whole. The finely tuned greens, browns, and ochre tones, together with the reflective water surfaces, give the work a special calm and natural radiance. A typical example of his mature landscape style.
Why this work?
This painting combines nature, water, and rural architecture in a balanced composition. The mood lighting and decorative colorfulness make it an attractive collector’s piece and at the same time a striking focal point for living or work spaces.
Technique: Oil on cardboard
Signature: Signed bottom right
Dimensions: 30 × 50 cm
Frame: Without frame
Condition: Good age-appropriate condition with slight, natural signs of wear (see photos)
Provenance: From the artist’s estate
Short biography: Dieter Wulff (1929–2010)
Dieter Wulff was a German painter who began his artistic career with a solid training as a sculptor. From this classical schooling he developed an independent, expressively shaped visual language. From the 1960s onward, landscape moved to the center of his work, characterized by clear composition, distinctive line work, and atmospheric colorfulness. In the 1980s, Wulff was among the particularly sought-after artists in his region and was active for decades as a gallery owner, teacher, and organizer of exhibitions. Today his works enjoy a steadily growing demand in the collector market.
