AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

WESTERN SUN is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the grandeur of the landscapes of the American West and the contemplative atmosphere of the great desert sunsets.

The work depicts a lone rider watching the horizon from the top of a rock formation, while a vast reddish sun slowly descends over the landscape. The scene captures one of those suspended moments in time in which the immensity of nature invites reflection, turning the viewer into a witness of a quiet and deeply evocative experience.

The artist builds the composition through a visual language with a strong graphic influence, characterized by expressive black outlines, simplified shapes, and a vibrant chromatic palette where the intense blues of the sky, the fiery reds of the sun, and the golden tones of the rock stand out. This aesthetic recalls travel posters and the classic iconography of the Western, reinterpreted from a contemporary sensibility close to pop art.

Beyond the reference to the imaginary of the West, WESTERN SUN speaks of the search for freedom, the connection with the land, and the human need to pause to contemplate what transcends the everyday. The character appears small against the vastness of the landscape, reinforcing the idea that nature is the true protagonist of the scene.

The visual power of its contrasts and the serenity of its narrative make this work a celebration of open spaces, adventure, and the exploratory spirit that continues to fascinate entire generations.

With its graphic presence and its cinematic atmosphere, WESTERN SUN brings character, depth, and a powerful sense of horizon to any contemporary art collection.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
