Description from the seller

Jerry Uelsmann (June 11, 1934 – April 4, 2022) gained international recognition for his surreal, enigmatic photographs (photomontages) made with his unique method of composite printing. In the following six decades, his contributions to contemporary photography were firmly established with major exhibitions, prestigious prizes, and numerous publications. Among his prizes were a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment, a Royal Photographic Society Fellowship, and the Lucie Award.
Uelsmann described his creative process as an odyssey in the darkroom (described in his book). He determined the content of the final print after pressing the shutter release, and not before.
The photograph, by the way, has no original title. It has in the past been auctioned with the title "Man on Desk".
The photograph is signed on the reverse by the photographer. The book is also signed.
The photograph was acquired in 1976 by an American photographer (Dave Leon), my late husband.
