Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense.
In this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing or modeling, and, more importantly, with workshop work.
Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture.
It is at this school that he already works with materials that would be basic in his work, such as steel or clay.
Parallel to that, Porto continues his training personally and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward bronze and steel as the final materials for his works.
After this initial training period, he decides to set up his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to where he was born.
It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey.
This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story.
Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, thus adding complexity and depth to his entire body of work, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
