Framed by inlays De Wieuw in Antwerp.

Hugo Duchateau (Tienen, 1938) is a prominent Belgian visual artist who lives and works in Sint-Truiden. He is known for his experimental approach, exploring the boundaries of painting through drawings, installations, and stained glass windows.
He graduated as a glass artist from the Provincial Higher Institute for Architecture and Applied Arts in Hasselt.
His work evolved from hyperrealism to conceptual art and fundamental painting. Central themes are the relationship between nature and culture and the artistic process itself.
He was co-founder of the innovative Research Group (1967) and a member of the Limburg School (1973).
Major Works and Achievements:
Euromonument: A monumental stainless steel column with an oak leaf in Genk, in memory of the Maastricht Treaty.
The Growing Ladder: A well-known installation in the elevator shaft of the M HKA in Antwerp.
Awards: Recipient of, among others, the Rome Prize (1967) and the Visual Arts Prize of the Flemish Community.
Duchateau often uses the materials themselves as subject, such as "pencils that draw themselves" or installations with pencil shavings.
Several works by the artist can be found in the collections of SMAK in Ghent, MUHKA in Antwerp, and PMMK in Ostend. Also in the Flemish Parliament, at Brussels Airport, and the Limburg Provincial House there are works by the artist displayed or incorporated into the interior.
In the Open Air Museum Bokrijk is the installation "The Strange Forest"
