Translated from English by Friedrich Gotthelf Friese and with notes by Friedrich Albert Zimmermann. Breslau, Korn 1805. With a border-coloured copper-engraved map. XXVI, 1 leaf, 399 pages. New paper-binding. Engelmann 897; Loewe 741. - First German edition of this travel description of the future American president, who at that time was the American envoy in Berlin. The large folding map (17 x 22 cm) shows a “Post Chart of Silesia,” in which the “Travelling Posts,” “Riding Posts,” and “Foot Messenger Posts” are marked with coloured routes. - Title on the verso of the last leaf bears a crowned ex libris stamp “Dibliotheca P. D. L., d. i. Popel de Lobkowicz.” - Barely spotty, untrimmed, handsome copy.
