Description from the seller
New series – Lost souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law plunges into pared-down, dark universes, inhabited by ghostly silhouettes in suspension. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual writing built with the help of contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notion of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician’s career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
