Description from the seller

HUV Quadri Recto print on natural 200g/m2 paper

Artist: Inti Castro
Year: 2018
Dimensions: 63 x 47 cm
Hand-signed and hand-numbered by the artist
Edition: 500 copies.

Castro is the most famous contemporary muralist from Chile. His works have travelled the world from the Americas to China, via Europe.

This work is directly inspired by the universe of the Andean carnival, cultural crossbreeding, and the region's traditions. It depicts a figure very important to the carnival and to Chileans, "el Kusillo", a sacred clown dressed in multicolored fabrics; he is the mediator between the human world and the spiritual world.
Here the artist's Kusillo leads us to the theme of chance and luck in a celestial world, in the colors of an Andean sacred dance.

The city of Arica is the home of the great Chilean Andean carnival; it is located at the northern tip of the country, near the border with Peru and Bolivia.
In his writings, Inti even explains that Arica represents for him a gateway to Andean America and that: “the sacred and the festive go hand in hand in the carnival.”

One of the rare works truly inspired by Andean Indigenous cultures!

Carefully shipped and protected with insurance and delivery against signature.
