Description from the seller
Magnificent 12-glass liqueur service in Sèvres crystal from the 1960s-70s (model to determine).
The Cristallerie de Sèvres (often associated today with the trade name Cristal de Sèvres) is a historic French glassmaking establishment, whose renown is closely linked to the history of tableware and luxury arts.
The original production site in Sèvres ceased industrial activity in the early 20th century (leaving its name to a district and a street in the commune), but the Cristal de Sèvres brand survived through time.
- The "diamond" and "star" cut: The chalice (the upper part) features a deep cross-cut that catches the light, often called the "diamond-point cut", topped with star or palmette motifs at the rim. It is a classic of 20th-century tableware, very close to iconic models (such as the Chenonceau model or similar creations by Baccarat or Saint-Louis).
- The cut stem: The glass stem is not smooth; it is also faceted, which is a sign of high manufacturing quality.
- The starry foot: The base of each glass (the foot) features a radiating star cut underneath, a finish typical of luxury crystal makers to maximize light refraction on a tablecloth.
This kind of service usually includes different sizes to fit various beverages at a large dinner (water glasses, red wine glasses, white wine glasses…). Here they are liqueur glasses.
It is a magnificent series, particularly bright thanks to the density of its cut, which catches even the slightest sunbeam.
For this precise model, the absence of a maker's mark is not rare and simply confirms production of the model’s early period.
In excellent condition. See the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
Fast and careful shipping with tracking worldwide.
