Daria Kardaś (born 1993)
Graduate of Painting with a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Art at the University of Pedagogical University (currently UKEN) in Kraków. Educator and painter, currently working in Gdańsk, Poland.
In her work, she explores the relationship between humans and space, drawing inspiration from the philosophy of Marc Augé. The artist is fascinated by “non-places” – transit spaces, passageways, and temporariness, which, instead of connecting, become a structure isolating the individual. Her paintings are a visual record of alienation and nostalgia accompanying contemporary humans in a world designed for constant movement.
Daria combines high artistic craft with an emotional approach to the subject. Although for over a decade the portrait has occupied a central place in her oeuvre, it is now evolving toward a study of a figure entangled in the cold, anonymous architecture of modernity.
Achievements and distinctions:
• September 2024: Prize in the international competition “Witkacy under the thatched roof” for the diptych Transience (Słupsk).
• September 2024: Participation in the international exhibition “SENDER: Paweł Petasz / RECIPIENT: the whole world” at Galeria EL (Elbląg).
• October 2024: 4th place in the public vote at the exhibition “Art in the Forest” for the painting Atrophy (Gdańsk).
Collections:
The artist’s works are in private collections in Poland, Greece, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and France.
I do not ship outside the European Union, to Malta or Cyprus due to shipping costs.
