Description from the seller

RARE OPPPORTUNITY to purchase this QUICKLY SOLD-OUT AND VERY SOUGHT-AFTER MONOGRAPH
by Rudolf Koppitz (1884-1936) - in BRANDNEW CONDITION.

EXCELLENT NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY.
BRILLIANT PRINTING.

Rudolf Koppitz is considered one of the most important Austrian photographers of the interwar period and has long been internationally acclaimed for his unique blend of Pictorialism, Art Deco, and regionalist art: Rudolf Koppitz, master of distinctive nude photography. This book presents a wide range of works from all phases of the artist’s career. Alongside his perhaps best-known photograph, Movement Study (1925), it also features early landscape works created using fine-art printing techniques, as well as a series of photographs he took while serving as a reconnaissance pilot during the First World War.
The way Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the reform movement and the cult of the body merge here into compositions that still appear ideal today offers fascinating new insights into the history of Central European photography beyond the usual clichés.

New, mint, unread; originally shrink-wrapped in publisher's plastic foil.
COLLECTOR'S COPY.

After the tremendous success of the first auction, 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne) now proudly presents the second edition of “Masters of Erotic Photobooks" on Catawiki.

A toast to love, passion, and desire!

Verlag Christian Brandstätter, Vienna. photoinstitut BONARTES. 2013. First edition, first printing.

Hardcover (as issued). 250 x 300 mm. 212 pages. Edited by Monika Faber. Photos: Rudolf Koppitz. Text by Monika Faber, Magdalena Vukovic, Astrid Mahler and Elizabeth Cronin. Text in German.

Super beautiful, important monograph by Rudolf Koppitz - in perfect condition.

"Rudolf Koppitz was born into a rural Protestant family in Schreiberseifen, a village close to the town of Freudenthal, in the Duchy of Upper and Lower Silesia (what is today Skrbovice near Bruntál in the Czech Republic). Koppitz began training for his career as a photographer in 1897 under Robert Rotter from Bruntál. Koppitz later continued his work in small commercial studios as a contract photographer but in 1912, he left professional life to go back to school to continue his studies at the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, "Institute for Teaching and Research in Graphic Arts" in Vienna, Austria.
Koppitz's early works were marked by the influence of his teacher, the Czech Symbolist photographer Karel Novák, and by the style of the Viennese Secession. While working in Vienna early in his career, Koppitz photographed many of the picturesque aspects of the city - St. Stephen's Cathedral, Karl's Church - and traveled to photograph Hungarian villages, fishing boats near Delft, views of Dresden and alpine landscapes."
