Description from the seller
Miaz presents the original work in modeling paste and acrylic paint "Apparent Density" 20 x 30 cm hand-signed on the back, created in 2025. Shipped directly from the artist with certificate of authenticity.
This work is made through the layering of modeling paste and plaster; it presents itself as a material labyrinth that plays with sensory deception. The title itself foreshadows the visual paradox: a structure that exudes the strength of a static monolith, yet hides a dynamic and light nature.
The Material Contrast: the protruding volumes and rough surfaces capture the light, creating a lattice of solids and voids. The irregular arrangement of the pieces breaks the rigidity of the grid, giving the entire composition a vibrant rhythm, almost in motion. The color choice, leaning toward metallic and heavy tones, gives the work an aura of solid grandeur; the eye perceives the gravity of lead or iron, creating a tension between the physical reality of the support and its aesthetic rendering.
An invitation to explore the paths of this labyrinth where geometric rigor blends with the unpredictability of the creative gesture: an architecture of thought that questions our perception of reality.
The artist:
Miaz identifies with Informal Art, Abstract Art, and Surrealism.
Her influences have deep roots in the works of Dalí: exploring the subconscious, obsessions, psychoses, and dream visions. In exploring the boundaries between painting and sculpture as in Fontana, the manipulation of matter and the vision in which matter is the very subject of the work; the reliefs and tactile depths of Burri’s canvases and the three-dimensionality of Bonalumi.
A Milanese, multi-faceted artist who experiments and researches, pushing the thin boundary between material painting and sculpture, exploring the three-dimensional depth of a work of art. A continuous search for languages that often uses humble, poor, and discarded materials, transforming mass into a new form with new boundaries, creating spaces and tactile and visual sensory effects.
Painting a surface, creating a stratification of matter capable of building a poly-material work rich in emotional intensity that often provokes very contrasting reactions; this identifies her, this is Miaz’s world.
The wire with its structure makes space in the works like a three-dimensional pencil stroke that delineates volumes and the cages of the soul, creating new spaces and becoming subjects rather than objects.
The use of epoxy resin creates a catalytic element used to crystallize matter, creating glossy/matte contrasts and giving a clear, glassy, and linear modernity.
The plaster and cotton evoke the fragility of a soft drape, which takes on a sculptural form that moves in the play of light it itself produces, insinuating itself into the folds of the subconscious.
The numerous recycled materials used as an ethical choice are molded into a new form and take on a new, different, aesthetically-driven meaning in the search for beauty.
