Two volumes, 1st Edition Thus, a 19th‑century French edition of Les caractères de La Bruyère with the Caractères de Théophraste, translated from Greek, edited by M. J. Simonnin, bound in half red morocco with gilt spines and red marbled boards, published in Paris by Emler Frères, 1829, in good condition with foxing and page counts of 366 and 388 for Tome I and Tome II respectively.

Two volumes. A 19th century French edition of La Bruyère’s celebrated moral essays and character sketches.
Uniformly bound in lovely half red morocco with gilt title to spines and red marbled boards. Boards lightly rubbed at corners only. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Contents have some areas of light to medium foxing. Overall a good set.
Tome I: xxxvi, 366 pages.
Tome II: 388 pages.
