Selin Koca - The stranger

This piece is part of a series inspired by prosopagnosia, a neurological condition often called “face blindness.”

The artist became fascinated by the idea of meeting someone, knowing them deeply, yet being unable to recognize their face. In this work, the figure’s identity is intentionally hidden, inviting the viewer to look beyond appearance and search for presence, emotion, and memory instead. The absence of facial features becomes a space where personal experiences and forgotten encounters can exist.

The series asks a simple question: if a face disappears, what remains of a person?
