Description from the seller
Superb Lunéville K&G Dinner Service and Teapot Set in Fine French Faience - Model "Vence" with Gadrooned and Gilded Borders - 43 Pieces (Circa 1950)
Lot Description:
Magnificent vintage dinner and tea service in fine French faience, manufactured by the renowned Keller & Guérin (K&G) pottery in Lunéville - Badonviller, France.
• Era / Dating: This combined stamp and decoration date precisely to the mid-20th century (the 1950s), showcasing the refinement of French table arts of that era.
• Model and Decor: Collection model "Vence", with a clear original hallmark under the pieces. Romantic decor composed of roses in Old Rose (British Rose) and burgundy, secondary buttons in ivory/soft white tones, and green rose leaves.
• The Charm of Gadroons: Stunning gadrooned relief (spiral-woven molding) on all pieces, enhanced by a fine gold rim that catches the light beautifully.
Condition Report:
The set is in generally good vintage condition for its age. Due to its age and normal use, a few minor details are noted for full transparency (see photos):
Traces of use and gilding: Presence of light signs of use typical for its age, translating into a patina or discreet wear on the gilt borders.
Stamp / Seals: The majority of pieces carry the original stamp clearly on the back. However, on about 3 to 5 flat plates, the stamp has faded or worn away over time and with washing (pieces guaranteed 100% authentic and identical to the rest of the service).
Oval serving platter: Has two small discreet chips on the edge.
Large flat plates (2 plates affected out of 22):
The first shows a micro hairline (slight crack) of about 1 cm, visible discreetly on the front face, but invisible on the back.
The second shows a slight hairline visible on the front face, but invisible on the back.
The remaining 20 plates and all other pieces of the service are in good condition.
Details of the 43 pieces:
• 22x Large gadrooned dinner plates (Diameter: 25 cm).
• 1x Large oval serving platter (presentation plate).
• 1x Large gadrooned covered tureen (with its lid).
• 1x Original soup ladle in matching faience.
• 1x Elegant sauce boat.
• 1x Delicate sugar bowl with its gadrooned lid.
• 10x Tea / coffee cups featuring a rose motif.
• 7x Matching saucers with gadrooned and gilded rims.
