- Dedicated by the artist to the memory of the great Andalusian poet of the mid-century, the eminent Alfonso Canales, this painting constitutes a tribute to the colorful essence and the deep tribal sign of bullfighting. Using devices that will later shine in the compositions dedicated by Miquel Barceló to the festival, the artist reduces the bullring to a primary, immaterial stage space, in which the figures of the protagonists of the corrida are distributed during the pase de cuadrillas. Peones, subalterns, picadors and alguaciles are reduced to Chinese shadow profiles, to black profiles of an Attic vase, some heroic Achaeans, others centaurs, under the gaze of the Minotaur of legend.
