Michel Cadoret de l'Epineguen (1912-1985) was an important figure in French painting in the 1950s and 1960s. Recognized by art critics of his time, he was the friend of Alexander Calder, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century.

Having spent a large part of his career in the United States, he was described as the "most American of French painters" by critic Pierre Courthion. His work reflects a unique fusion between French and American artistic influences.
