Description from the seller

THE WORK:
Title: Face No. 6. (Achilles)
Year: 2016
Medium: Oil / linseed / Panel.
Dimensions: 100 x 100 x 3 cm.
Support: Linen glued to panel.
Signature: Signed by the artist in the lower right corner.

COMMENTARY:
The painting Face No. 6 offers a personalized interpretation of the figure of the Greek hero Achilles, known for his prominent role in the Trojan War and his depiction in Homer’s Iliad. The work presents this head of the Greek bust, which I have transformed using digital treatment techniques. I explored various possibilities to modify the color and textures of the original sculpture, seeking to bring it into a more personal realm.
Chromatism plays a fundamental role in the piece. The space is divided into three vertical bands, with the central one as the most important, where the head of Achilles is located. The sides present themselves as possible entrances to the painting, treated with different chromatisms and textures that enhance its depth and visual complexity.

The work is in perfect condition.
Includes an authenticity certificate with a photograph of the work, dated and signed by hand by the artist.

Shipping is carried out with the work mounted on its original stretcher and properly protected.

Juan Manuel Álvarez Cebrián. Madrid 1966.

Selected in numerous national competitions. Some awards include: 2nd Prize Caballeros de Yuste, finalist VIII Laura Otero, Medal of Honor Sotillo de la Adrada, 5th Prize XVIII Antequera, Medal of Honor at the XXII López-Villaseñor, 42nd Antonio López Painting and Drawing Contest, Tomelloso, Ciudad Real. First Prize for Small Format Painting AGORA96, Cádiz. Finalist in Drawing Fundación Ynglada-Guillot, Barcelona. Seller's Story

Juan Álvarez Cebrián, a Spanish painter with a long career. His work is based on figurative and realist styles and also touches on abstract art. He currently lives and works on the outskirts of Madrid. A passionate advocate of drawing. His themes are varied; he does not like to be pigeonholed into a single subject. He works with the figure, landscape, nature subjects, even surrealism. A staunch defender of good technique in art, he has studied the great masters and, for that reason, was a copyist of works at the Prado Museum in Madrid for a few years.
