Rogelio Blasco Millán (1897-1969), Aragonese watercolorist born in the town of Ateca, province of Zaragoza, on September 16, 1897. In 1924 he arrives in Bilbao, where he settles permanently and develops artistically.
He began as a pen-and-ink illustrator, and in 1935 he held his first solo exhibition in Bilbao. He emerges in this line of drawing with a strong personality that he would later express most in his preferred technique, watercolor, although he also explored other facets of painting.
He held numerous exhibitions, mainly in Bilbao and Madrid. In Madrid, in 1951, Sala Vilches bought all of his production from that year to distribute it abroad. It was in Paris that Weicker, a U.S. senator, saw one of his works and liked it so much that he personally came to Bilbao to commission a large watercolor of a poultry farm, one of the largest watercolors in the world.
In 1959 he held an exhibition in Seville, at Sala Velásquez, after which, despite being not fond of entering his works into competitions, he attended the IX National Exhibition of Industry and Crafts in Montilla, where he received the Diploma of Honor. In 1963 his painting "The Seated Figure" received the F. Esteve Botey Medal at the IV National Watercolor Salon.
From 1946 to 1966, his works regularly hung in Bilbao and Madrid exhibition rooms, some already disappeared, such as Sala Albia and Illescas in Bilbao and Sala Vilches and Viesga in Madrid.
He died in Bilbao on December 16, 1969.
