Ercuis - Table service (2) - Silverplated

Set of 2 fish-cutlery pieces from the early 1900s in their original box, consisting of a small serving spatula and a large fork. Of French origin, they are decorated in relief with floral elements, scrolls and leaves. Handles embossed in silver with Art Nouveau motifs. Good condition. The utensils are marked by the goldsmith house Ercuis Paris (France) and bear a square mark with a centaur motif (symbol of Ercuis) and the initials O and E with the number 9 underneath. They were taken to the goldsmith to verify that they are solid silver (see photo 31). Ercuis Paris: founded in Oise in 1867 and located on Rue Royale in Paris where it is still based today. The centaur punch was introduced in 1886 and later the letters OE were added for “Orfèvrerie Ercuis.” Box dimensions: height 4.5 x 34.5 x 14.5 cm – spatula length 30.1 cm – large fork length 23.7 cm – weight: 0.196 g.
