Artist
The French artist Jo y Posso lives in Pigalle, a stone's throw from the Moulin Rouge
For 20 years, she works in the fashion world as a designer, and spends the rest of the time creating collages and lighting fixtures. She cuts her art books to create encounters between great classical figures and icons of pop art, thus telling sensual, funny and feminist stories. More recently, Jo y Posso has oriented herself toward mixed media to integrate street art influences into her work.
In her studio in Pigalle, Jo y Posso paints the woman in all her states; between strength and vulnerability, humour and sensuality.
These icons, drawn as much from classical art as from pop culture, offer a plural image but always liberated of the woman. At the heart of this work, resolutely pop and street, eScrittura also holds a predominant place; extracts from literary texts, poems or songs occupy her canvases like landscapes. And it is in these words that all the meaning is to be found
