Description from the seller
Antique 4/4 violin labeled H.C. Silvestre à Paris 1872.
Medium-to-fine grain spruce was chosen for the top, and a one-piece maple back with beautiful narrow grain that is slightly flamey. The sides are bookmatched.
The inlay work is tasteful and well crafted, as is the pale reddish-brown varnish.
Violin length: 595 mm; back length: 360 mm. Upper bouts: 166 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 203 mm. Full size 4/4.
The sound is very deep, rich, warm, and very powerful.
No cracks or fissures. Recently serviced by a luthier; the bridge has been changed to an Aubert model with ebony inlay on the E string and the sound post and pegs adjusted.
The violin will be carefully packaged and shipped via Correos España in protective packaging. Bow not included.
