Original oil painting in Impressionist style, a portrait titled "Under the same silence" on a 60×40 cm panel, signed by hand, datable to 2026, originating from the Netherlands and sold directly by the artist, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
oil paint on Masonite panel 0.6 cm
This work is part of my duo auction, in which I bring together several paintings around calm, vulnerability, and the longing to disappear from the world for a while.
During the auction I share extra images from my studio on Instagram: details, moments of process, paint choices, and small thoughts about the works. For those who enjoy not only seeing the end result but also the search behind it, there is more to follow via @francienkrieg.
I enjoy painting portraits of young men and teenagers because there is something special in that life phase: a vulnerability that has not yet hardened by the world. Their faces and bodies carry an indefinability in themselves — they are not fully formed yet, but full of promise and possibilities. It is precisely that in-between moment I want to capture: no longer a child, not yet a man. In that transition lies a beauty that I aim to capture, the openness of what can still become, and the fragile realization that this stage lasts only a short time.
All series — from self-portraits and aging bodies to young male boxers, women at sunset, and intimate scenes with cats — can be found on my website, where you can also read more about my background and motivations:
www.francienkrieg.com
I work exclusively with high-quality materials: professionally prepared linen or smooth panels, and oil paint of top quality, rich in pigment. Each work is made with care and dedication — meant to endure, not only in terms of material, but also in meaning.
