Description from the seller
David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of imagery in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he expands this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work is built as a mosaic composed of thousands of micro-graphic fragments. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it reveals a rich array of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is done on colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created original and independently.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artists’ proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminium with a built-in back attachment. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminium plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
