A hand-carved heavy hardwood statue on a lotus pedestal, of the Hindu god Ganesha. In Hindu culture, Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles and the bringer of luck, wisdom, and success. His trunk is bent to the left, symbolizing peace and domestic prosperity. This Ganesha has a less common and stately posture (Sthanaka) and in his hind hands he holds small oil lamps.
