Velvet Submission by La Chibroneuse – Limited XL Edition, canvas artwork
One image that is both sweet, provocative and enigmatic.
Against a background of deep red velvet, a feminine silhouette appears in a almost meditative pose. The mask with long ears immediately transforms the scene into a symbol rather than a portrait. The identity disappears behind the character, giving way to the imagination, to fantasy and to interpretation.
The contrast between the rich red of the setting and the black of the mask creates a powerful visual tension, while the minimal composition concentrates all attention on the subject’s silent emotion.

The artist’s explanation of the work
With Velvet Submission, I wanted to explore the boundary between vulnerability and power.
The mask hides the face but paradoxically reveals something more intimate. The red evokes passion, desire, but also theater and staging. Behind this apparent simplicity lies a reflection on the roles we choose to wear and those others project onto us.
