Description from the seller

Original poster for the Nîmes Fair 1990 created by the prominent French artist Robert Combas, a central figure of the Figuration Libre movement.

This poster was commissioned by the City of Nîmes to promote the famous Fair, a cultural and festive emblem of the south of France.

The image features a typical Combas drawing: an extremely dense and expressive composition that blends characters, symbols and spontaneous graphic strokes, in a palette of vivid colors. This distinctive style helped make Combas one of the most influential artists on the contemporary French art scene, alongside Hervé Di Rosa and François Boisrond.

Original print run produced by Imprimerie ARTI, a credit visible in the margin of the poster.

Posters of festivals and events illustrated by Combas are today sought after by contemporary art collectors, especially those dating from the 1980s-1990s, which correspond to the artist’s most emblematic period.

Dimensions: 56 × 43 cm

Condition: Good overall condition (B+). Light signs of wear are visible in the photos, in line with the poster’s age.

Provenance: Poster acquired at the Puces de Saint-Ouen (Paris), one of the most important antique and art markets in Europe.

Shipping: Poster carefully protected and sent in a rigid tube for safe transport.
