German made brass artillery gunner's quadrant dating to around 1918, with dimensions 12.5 × 12 × 3 cm and a weight of 806 g, in good used condition with signs of aging, featuring deep German inscriptions and a functioning spirit level, and stamped with the F.L.S. inspector mark.
Description from the seller
This brass instrument is a German artillery clinometer or gunner's quadrant (often called a Winkelmesser der Artillerie).
This precision leveling instrument was used by field artillery crews to accurately measure and set the launch elevation angles for heavy artillery pieces and howitzers.
Features crisp, deeply engraved German military text including Gradteilung (Degree Graduation) along the curved arc and Ausschaltung 1/16 along the lower adjustment base plate.
Stamped with the highly desirable F.L.S. inspector mark, indicating official military proofing and acceptance at the famous Feuerwerkslaboratorium Spandau (Spandau Ordnance Laboratory).
Spirit Level: The internal glass spirit level bubble vial is entirely intact, unbroken, and functional.
Based on the manufacturer's mark this instrument dates to the World War I era, specifically around 1918.
The quadrant is in good condition and has smooth movement with some corrosion to the knobs but they turn easily.
