Peripheral Vision investigates how reality is constructed not only by what we observe directly, but also by everything that remains at the margins of our attention. Through the extreme magnification of a single gaze, the work turns the act of seeing into a space of analysis, awareness and vulnerability.
The eye emerges as a symbol of perception and presence, occupying almost the entirety of the composition. However, the apparent sharpness is interrupted by pixelated fragments that cross the image like transmission noise or traces of incomplete information. These elements suggest the coexistence between clarity and distortion, reminding that all observation is inevitably conditioned by the filters through which we interpret the world.
The monochromatic palette reinforces the psychological intensity of the work, while the meticulous details of the iris and eyelashes create a sensation of almost uncomfortable proximity. The gaze seems simultaneously to observe and be observed, establishing a reciprocal relationship between the figure and the viewer.
In Peripheral Vision, what lies outside the focus assumes equal importance to the center of the image. The work invites reflection on the limits of human attention in an era saturated with visual stimuli, questioning to what extent we are capable of distinguishing between what we see, what we ignore and what remains permanently outside our field of vision.
