Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this portrait-format work (40 × 60 cm), Medsan takes us into a scene of profound intimacy, capturing the grace and mystery of Edo-era evenings. Drawing on the bijinga tradition (portraits of beautiful women) of ukiyo-e, this single print features two young women sharing a moment of confidences by the glow of a paper lantern, absorbed in reading a handwritten letter.
The visual poetry and the softness of the composition lie in the harmony of details and the suspended atmosphere. Luxurious fabrics respond to one another: an emerald green kimono embroidered with flying cranes tenderly entwines a pale pink kimono adorned with maple leaves. In the background, an elegant screen decorated with clusters of wisteria sets the space, while the sliding door opens to reveal a peaceful nocturnal garden, bathed in the light of a crescent moon and dotted with cherry blossoms petals falling softly into the night.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a warm, soothing color palette, intensified by the wisps of smoke rising from a steaming cup of tea in the foreground. The delicate line work, underscored by a subtle antique paper edge effect, rigorously respects the aesthetics of traditional prints while imbuing it with a sensibility of modern illustration. The calligraphy materials placed on the lacquered coffee table add a narrative touch, inviting the viewer to imagine the contents of this secret missive.
A dreamlike piece, at once sensual, elegant and poetic, ideal for bringing a touch of softness, mystery and Asian refinement to a modern, design interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, Outsider art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
