Wall cabinet in red fir wood in Art Deco style, dating from the 1920s, measuring 16 × 32 × 6.5 cm and weighing 650 g empty.
Description from the seller
Wall cabinet in red fir in Art Deco style, measures 16 x 32 x 6.5 cm and weighs 650 g empty. It features a front panel with leaded glass decorated with a floral motif with yellow roses and a butterfly. The wooden structure is equipped with a small closing latch on the left side of the door. The interior is designed to hold small spice jars. The structure is original from the 1920s; the wood (red fir) has a patina with signs of time that enhance its charm and beauty. The glass is decorated with the technique of liquid lead filling and is in good condition except at a point near the butterfly where it has given way. Designed to hold spices, it now contains small jars that must have replaced, around the 1950s/1960s, the originals: each one has a label in French with a floral theme and are perfectly preserved and have been cleaned and disinfected without compromising the original label. At this stage the magnetic closure may have been added for greater protection of the contents. On the bottom of the cabinet there is a print with an herbal theme depicting a flower of "Erigeron aurantiacus" which is also the central theme of the showcase and whose flower is also found on the plastic caps of the spice bottles. On the back there are two hooks for hanging it on the wall.
A splendid testimony of the past, but at the same time a precious antique object of great decorative value, distinctive and collectible for its excellent state of preservation.
Shipping will be fast and insured for the full value. The photos are to be considered an integral part of the description. We do not ship outside Europe. At the end of the auction please check the message center where you will receive photos of the packaging and instructions for receipt.
